record the standings that are published weekly in this column Well some clubs and reporters credit two for a win one point for a tie Others use the five point system I use the five point system for a win that some other clubs use It makes for a higher total points and was the system that I started out with in my first curling club Its hard to teach an old dog new tricks they say and Im not getting any younger Next Saturday is the Industrial Mixed It Is being sponsored by the Company and should see some of the best mixed curling at the club for the season Spectators are always welcome at these sweeping or otherwise the course of a running stone be affected by any of the party to which it belongs it shall be removed from play by the playing side but If by any of the adverse party It shall be placed where the skip of the party to which It belongs shall direct Should the position of any stones be altered by such affected stone the skip opposed to the party at fault shall have the sole right to replace them Sorry there will be no league standings this week Sunday when I should have gone out to the club to get the results of last weeks games I went to the big city and when I got back the place was dark Then after holding the copy for this column until Monday evening the roads were skating rinks Since the only pair of skates that I own are old auto I felt they were a lot safer In the store room than on my feet Will try to bring the standings up to date at the end of this week It might give me an excuse to be a spectator at the mixed bonspiel on Saturday There are Just two teams committee they hope to enter a Juvenile team In addition to a C Club in the Ontario Minor Lacrosse Association for the first time this year They will also organize three house league teams one tyke one and one bantam which will likely play in an house league Mr Hall explained the Junior team will act as a parent club for the Juveniles and house league teams He said he hopes the Junior team will be able to support itself on gates I d like to see the hourly rate dropped to since theyre starting a minor system at no cost to us Mr Inscoe explained It was Mr Inscoes opinion an hour would more than compensate for any charges such as hydro incurred by the committee as a result of the team use of arena facilities He predicted gates for Junior games will increase this year and the Juniors would probably be able to partially subsidize minor teams They re a very responsible party he said They leave the arena neat and tidy If we had more parties as responsible our Job would be a lot easier he said Councillor Peter Marks suggested the committee work on a gate spilt with the Juveniles who will probably play home games Friday nights If we find the committees receiving revenue we can alter It he said All members backed Mr Marks suggestion that floor time for the house league teams be provided free of charge Tentative arrangements have the Junior team playing home games Monday night and practicing Sunday mornings the Juvenile team playing Friday night and practicing Sunday mornings and house league teams playing either Tuesday nights or Saturday mornings Fees high With referees fees so high Mr Dwyer told the committee the Junior team was lucky to make a profit from a game that drew people last vear The committee also agreed to purchase new mesh for the lacross goal nets at a cost not to exceed and granted the team permission to use dressing room number one with its additional storage room facilities and erect a team booster sign in the arena lobby Decision was reserved on a request that the committee sell lacrosse sticks from the arena booth Mr Marks felt the committee should first investigate to make sure they t competing against local merchants in the sale of sticks Hockey sticks are sold from the booth but Mr Marks explained that is done for the sake of convenience since hockey sticks are easily broken Will repair arena Acton Parks and Recreation
