Hockey officials deserve congratulations for their efforts making the second annual pee wee house league tournament a success With a few exceptions tournament games were as close and exciting as one of the old TorontoMontreal playoff games The championship game between Kitchener and Enn was as good a minor hockey game as has been played in town this year The impressive Legion color parade highlight of the opening ceremonies was a valuable addition to the tournamenL Most important benefit of the tournament in our view is that house league players who dont ordinarily have the opportunity to play out of town and in some cases even at home have a chance to try their stalls against players of their own calibre from other centres After last weekends action its evident these boys appreciate the chance and make the best of it by putting forth a 100 per cent effort Acton can well be proud of its Legion pee wee house league tournament Acton Tanners will have their backs against the wall when Durham Huskies come to town Friday night for the fourth game of a best of seven group semifinal Huskies took a stranglehold on the series with a 171 win in Durham last night Tuesday Although Tanner execs offer no excuses for the defeat against the classy Huskies reports brought back seem to concur that the bigger Durham club tried their best to rough up the locals even with the score so high Its no secret Durham teams have never spared the rod over the years Trailing mid way through the second period Durham Huskies battled back to knock off Acton Tanners and grab a two game lead in their best of seven OH A Intermediate B playoff series here Friday night in front of the seasons largest crowd about 350 Veteran centre Jim Nixon spearheaded the comeback that put the damper
