was stressed to the evening unit of the when lawyer Donald Brown was their guest speaker If you dont make a will your estate will be administered by the state he told them Mr Brown went on to give specific points of law relating to wills If a husband dies without a will the wife receives the first and participates equally In the restvYlth the children he said He reviewed legislation concerning gifts from a husband to his wife and Children and the stated limits Sign properly An Interesting and very vital point was his reminder that any will must be signed In exactly the right place And It must be witnessed For Instance a will made at home is valid but must be signed at the bottom right hand below the other signatures A very Informative question period followed his talk Mr Brown was Introduced by Mrs McGllllvray and thanked with a gift by Mrs Pauline Symon Good attendance The wellattended meeting with members was held at the home of Mrs Gloria Coats Mrs Chris Houston reported on the success of new swap shop in the Mrs presided and Mrs McGllllvray and Mrs Symon took part In the devotions The Is May Prepare dishes meetings The fourth fifth and sixth meetings were held at the In bed by Wendy Thomson Weve welcomed Sue our hound pup back Into the family fold Really shes a pup no longer but a Ladydog I KNOW theres another name for it and Im not being a prude She Just responds better when we call her a little ladydog Sowould 11 suppose Sues put out enough as It is On the first signs of her maturity she was banished to the base ment after months of living In luxury Shed had not only her own private couch In the living room but also numerous beds to sprawl on unless she the springs and broadcasted her whereabouts There were two big meals a day plus toasttime with her master in the morning doggiebone time with me at 4 and catfood time whenever she could tiptoe Into the kitchen without being seen World was ben The world was hers to run in alongside her pappy both of them in deep carrying tones The Joys of coonlng were just starting to unfold when she found herself chained because she wouldnt stop chewing at the door in a dark corner In the basement with only in old horse blanket for company The mournful wails rising up through the cold air vents and reverb erating along the furnace pipes were answered by anguished howls and moans from old Rip waiting patiently at the cellar door Outside a neighbours dog sat with his nose to a crack in the boarded up window adding his lamentations And Inside I huddled with my head under three pillows doing a fair bit of mental weeping and walling myself finally exploding in a screaming frenzy Minutes Our two dogs would be silent with shock for all two minutes The brown dog outside on seeing me fly out of the house with a broom would make a desperate dash for safety and stop behind a dead weed feet away Then it would all start again driving me slowly around the bend Of course Just before Gord was due home our two dogs would become exhausted and be down quietly Brown dog would head back to his own house for supper and Gord would take this tranquil scene as typical of the whole day Everything all quiet eh Bah Part of game Walks were something else Never having been on a leash before Sue took to being led as part of a game She insisted on carrying part of the leash shifting closer and closer till she had a whole hand in her mouth She later discovered that the leash was keeping her from more important pasttimes and bled to figure out ways of getting loose like falling behind as far as she could then taking a quick dash leaping and hurling her pounds forward with a twist She often brought herself and whoever was walking her both down In a heap Of course that was the signal to set off at a gallop across the snow dragging her keeper along behind treat The day we brought Sue back upstairs again was son Jims birthday and sure Sue thought the celebration was for her benefit Why else would all those boys with toques be running around outside A boy with a knitted hat is Sues special Joy It didnt take too much to knock one down snatch his hat off and sprint away With the hat In her possession Sue leaped and cavorted tossing it high into the air Once it landed she Jumped on it and ran off waving It teas- under the owners nose Seven boys provided seven toques and one tired dog put away the leash and collar thankful that the walks were done with I seemed to be spending so much tune patiently waiting and thinking of what I SHOULD be doing I guess I wasnt very receptive to seven yearold Davids request Short run Mom would you take Charlie out two times a day for awhile He needs a little run Im not quite sure how far constitutes a little run with caterpillar the swap shop for future helpers to sign The more volunteers there are to man the swap shop the less each person will nave to do The volunteers were happy to welcome older people to their venture in the ana felt it was
