Not zoned fa7 to close deal on town land After considerable discussion at special meetings Monday and Tuesday evenings Acton council took no action on a request from Alteo Construction for a three month extension in the agreement of purchase and sale of town owned land joining Fairview cemetery which Acton annexed from Esquesing township As a result the deal has not been closed Council decided they had carried out their obligations on the sale and a three month extension was not warranted The 16 acres of land was sold to Alteo Construction for housing In October for after a series of special meetings and negotiations Under the terms of the offer to purchase 5000 was deposited with the agent 000 was to be paid at the closing of the sale March and the municipality agreed to carry a first mortgage on the property for one year on the balance of 000 at eight per cent Apply for amendment The town has applied for amendment to the Official Plan to rezone the land for residential use but the application has been held up at Queens Park The developer feels he cannot go ahead until he is assured most of the land will be zoned residential There are rumblings from Queens Park that almost 24 of the acres could be zoned for conservation At the second special meeting Tuesday council passed a by law authorizing signatures on the deed In the event the developer decided to sign the closing papers Sale of the land was negotiated through realtor Alec Johnson There were four other bidders The administration committee of council recommended that council grant a three month extension on financial terms only after they received a report from the solicitor But the developer wants some assurance he is receiving more than half the acreage on which he intends to build housing Applications for amendments to the official plan of the town are passed around to various departments at Queens Park for objections In his case the conservation branch of the Department of Municipal Affairs felt at press time there was some confusion about whether a deal could be re negotiated but there seems to be no doubt the land is once again back in the hands of the town I nety S Year No
