The Acton Free Press Wednesday May 19 C Number Galaxy of Tory stars here on May 26 OUR READERS WRITE Scores lock of parent interest A LETTER TO CUB PARENTS Dear Editor In response to the letter In your paper about a report of a group committee meeting I have a few comments to the dtlzens of and vicinity One Is I wish the peopleof had half as much interest in our Cub and Scouts as our reporter Lorraine Root I feel that she has done a very good Job in reporting on Cub and Scout activities She has written ft as I have told her and also by Frank Schneider of the group committee We have tried to emphasize that we need more Interest from parents For instanco at our meeting last month only seven people turned up out of a possible parents Do you call this interest Parents seem to think that because they give the Cubs once a week they have done their share Well Im telling you plump to plain it is not enough We need co operation In moneymaking efforts such as refreshments booths at or just a plain better turnout at the Auxiliary If all of us had to go to the cottage for the weekend or had company coming or were lust too busy to put one step just a little further where would our Cubs be I know do you I have found by attending District meetings that the croup committee is supposed to arrange cub camp apple days a paper and bottle drive etc to help support Cubs and Scouts The Mothers Auxiliary is supposed to help in any way they can Right now the Mothers Auxiliary is left stranded and expected to make money and make arrangements for camp for leaders and whatever else comes up Out of about mothers it is left up to four or five to get things done The rest Just sit back and arc too busy A parents meeting is called again far this month because of the poor turnout at the last one It is called for May 19 p m at the town hall Parents please be there A new group committee is hopefully going to be nominated and also a new Mothers Auxiliary as our term Is up this year Our cubs Scouts Venturers and Rovers could be very strong In if Just little more effort was put forth Sincerely Mrs Audrey 118 Frederick St Rockwood President of Mothers Auxiliary and voice of Experience
