Day attendance disappointment but Sportsmens Show triples receipts Attendance for the third annual Acton Sportsmen Show down from last year but the overall financial picture was a tremendous improvement Receipts from the three day weekend event tripled last year said one official Highlights of the show which started on Friday and wound up Just prior to Sunday drenching rainstorm were the two dances an outstanding antique gun show and the demonstrations and races staged by model boat owners from the U S and Canada Vicechairman John Shadbolt estimated there were 1 dancers at the two fteen Missing cars soon located Police recovered five stolen cars here during the past week All the cars had been left with the keys In them First incident was Wednesday of last week when a car belonging to David Deforest of Milton was found in Acton at the industrial centre building parking lot Then the next three incidents occurred on Acton streets in quick succession The three cars were reported stolen to police and recovered not far away soon afterward Hugh Graham R R Limehouse reported his car stolen from in front of Mill St about 30 Thursday At 10 it was found at the comer of Church and Frederick by OPP Cons Connors Next at Robert Main of Georgetown reported to Acton police that his car had been taken from where it was parked at 86 Main St Cons Connors found it in minutes car wash New bylaw to curb drainage problems Serious drainage problems in town has prompted Acton council to insist builders must present plans showing the elevation of the front floor level of a humidity and lightning is blamed for a power failure which Acton Sunday afternoon The middle lightning arrester at the K Porter plant was the source of the break in service which lasted over two hours
