Group of Halton calves win competition ByH J Stanley Several H members competed in the Interclub competition at Erin Fair over the Thanksgiving Holiday This event attracts club members from Peel and Wellington with a friendly rivalry always evident All exhibits are placed in a first second or third prize group with champions declared In the field crop section participants from Halton placed as follow Barley first prize group Leah Leslie second prize group Joanne Wilson Norma Leslie Lome Wilson Sharon Leslie John VanderVleigt Wheat first prize group Dennis McCIure Oats Second prize group Ken McNabb third prize group Dave Taylor Corn first prize group Dave Hay second prize group Anne McCIure Ken McNabb Grace Bud Donna Milton Dairy calves The dairy calf club show was held on Saturday afternoon in the show barn amidst the pouring rain In the senior hoist cm section with calves Paul Stewart had the second place calf In the first prize group with Barry fifth and Sandra Bennett seventh At the top of the second prize group were Dave Bruce and Beryl with Bill McDonald in seventh place McDonald was in the third prize group In the Junior the top calf was shown by Debbie Butchers Acton Winner of the senior Jerseys was Bob Robinson with John Nixon as runnerup In the Junior jersey class first was Margaret Robinson and second Jane Mixon Debbie Butchers calf was chosen as Junior champion with Margaret Robinson as reserve In the senior calf championship the winner was Jim Moore Terra Cotta from the Peel Club with Paul Stewart of winning the reserve award In the grand champion calf class Jim Moore of Feel was declared winner with Debbie Butchers winning reserve honors Best calves The next class was for groups For the seventh time out of the last eight years won this honor Sandra Bennett Paul Stewart and Dave Held had the most uniform group of calves to win top honors Peel wa3 second with three other members of the Halton club in third place Les McDonald Barry Reid and
