Energetic friendly town group Golden Age Club reports on year By Mrs Elsie Reed I respectfully submit the annual report of Acton Golden Age Club The new slate of officers took over on 2nd with Mr president for a successful and worthwhile year Members attended Holy Week Services in Trinity United Church and also The World Day of Prayer In the Pentecostal Church Our usual contribution of 5 was made to the United Citizens of Ontario Immediate Past President Mrs George Fryer was given the Past President Pin Zone events A representation went to the Annual Spring Zone Executive meeting held in Milton March 28 to help plan for the Annual Zone Picnic and to the Fall Executive Meeting held in Burlington Oct help plan for the Zone Rally A bus load of members attended the picnic held in Coronation Park on June and a bus load attended the Rally in Burlington Nov 8 in beautiful Centre Bus trips Other bus trips taken were enjoyed The Lion Club generously provided transportation to the Manor for their Garden Party there on June to wind up Senior Citizens Week activities A sightseeing trip was taken to Ontario Place on August color tour to Owen Sound via and returning through Mount Forest to where a delightful hot Turkey Dinner was thoroughly enjoyed A car load of delegates and visitors attended day of the 13 annual convention of the United Senior CitUeni of Ontario held this year in York University Toronto on August A beautiful quilt made by the ladles realized fair failed to a prize for the first tune Donations received Donations received were from a member who wished to remain unknown 25 from the sisters of Mr Norman donated in his memory from the town of Acton from the Parks and Recreation Committee as the Club shire of money budgeted for the Recreation Program from Mrs Pearl Kennedy an accumulation of prizes received for games won in euchre crokmole etc Mrs Kennedy was a champion and also is a good hand at euchre was much sickness and some accidents among the anniversaries happily celebrated Mr and Mrs Robert and Mr and Mrs George Fryer received the club heartiest congratulations and sincere best wishes along with a golden mum plant There have been no
