marriage of Mary Ann and Norman Smith The bride daughter of Mrs Veronica and the late Leard of Boston Is a nurse at the Montreal Neurological hospital Norman Smith son of Mr and Mrs Elmer Smith Acton is a graduate student at McGill University Montreal The doublering ceremony was performed by Father Aldan butty OF M In the Cathedral of the Holy Cross Blessed Sacrament chapel December Heirloom bracelet The bride wore a white satin gown with Alencon lace trim and her headdress was a ribbon- covered open pillbox with ribbons on either aide She carried white roses The bride also wore a gold bracelet engraved Mary which had belonged to the grooms grandmother Mrs Norman Smith The three bridal attendants were Gwen Snappy Boston as maid of honor cousins Pat and Coyne Boston as Cranberry hue of Stratford requested assistance from the Ability Fund March of Dimes for physical rehabili tation After a severe bout of polio at the age of eleven which left her almost totally paralyzed Dorothy spent the next years being carried from bed to chair mainly because rehabilitation facilities were not then available The road to self Independence started at Lodge in Toronto Two and a half years of intensive physiotherapy there and corrective surgery at the Toronto General Hospital all financed by the March of Dimes prepared Dorothy for her return to Stratford and eventual self employment She has been successfully operating out of her apartment as a Publishers Agent since that time and in 1960 became secretary for the Ability Funds Central Western Ontario campaigns Over one and a half million dollars for handicapped adults has been raised through her efforts Commenting on the Ability Fund Dorothysaid It laid the groundwork independence in living and for pride and fulfill ment in
