the grade B graduates of the M Bennett school There were happy young ladies and gentlemen dressed in style and with corsages or who lined up for the traditional class picture during the evening The grade mothers under had arranged the hot and cold smorgasbord and mixed desserts Ted Dumarsh said Grace and Susan Bruce expressed appreciation Kelly McGruthers was master of ceremonies for the program Guest speaker Parents and guest were welcomed by principal Elmer Smith and the group listened attentively to the guest speaker a former pupil Dan Almond Mr Almond who had difficulties getting through school himself told of his own experiences and told the young people he had good advice for them although he I expect they would necessarily take It His forthright speech claimed the close attention of his listeners Carol Grant introduced Mr Almond and Ann Harding made a presentation A variety of awards was presented Award made Kathy president of the student council presented the all round awards to Monika Schmidt and Ron Moore The Legion Auxiliary award for the top student was presented by Mrs Ruth Courtney to Carol Grant The 1 0 E award for the most improved student was given to Connie by Mrs Pearl Young of the Duke of Devonshire chapter Mr Brouitlard gave the French proficiency awards to Schmidt and Carol Grant Top athletes Debbie Brown and Nathan Held received awards from teacher Ed The public speaking award was presented by principal Smith to Kathy Schmidt expressed the appreciation of the students to the school Dance entertainment A band played for dancing and during the intermission Ryan Reed Wayne Allan and leader entertained with guitars and songs leader who has just moved to returned for the banquet Miss Bennett of Parkview Manor Waterloo sent a personal message to the graduates of the school named in her honor The former principal wrote My heartiest congratulations to the 1972 graduates of the Z School and my wishes that each has before him or her a worthwhile purpose in life he or she will valiantly aim to attain Robert Littleprogram A delightful culmination of the final year in public school was enjoyed by over 60 students of the Robert little school The annual banquet has become a traditional climax of school life as usual with the co- opera of proud mothers in their kitchens They applauded their classmates as they accepted awards heard one of their own respected teachers act as guest speaker and ended the evening dancing to a disc Jockey popular choices Share pride Parents Joined them for part of the program to share their pride in the accomplishments of this fine group of young people Janet and Tuffin presented a Blue Mountain swan to their vice principal Mrs who is being transferred the new vice principal Mrs Renmck from Oakvllle was present David Williams said grace for the graduates and staff before their hearty meal and Cathy and Spielvogel led a singsong John Vos thanked the mothers for the banquet and also their help with the recent grade trip to Ottawa Entertaining the group Mary Ellen with Highland dancing at the piano and Donna Gorjup a guest from the high school with ac cordion numbers Wendy Roma no had a gift to Miss Teacher speaks The guest speaker was Mrs Kathy who grew up In Acton and has established her teaching career here lnformall and capably with forceful conviction Mrs outlined for her students where they stand in life at this point Michelle Bould and Ted Waites were in charge of the gift to the speaker Blue Mountain cream and sugar set Danny introduced her Bev Duval was charged with giving valedictory address which she handled capably Mrs Fowler presented the Legion Indies Auxiliary award to Mike as the top student John McCutchcon received the lODh award for the most unproved student from Mrs Ann Mowat of the Duke of Devonshire chapter Mr Kavanagh presented the French awards to Frost and Becky Baiter Student council awards went to and John crests were presented to ill participating students Make direct calls Residents who wish to complain about road conditions in certain parts of town should call roads committee chairman Councillor Earl Masales instead of relaying their complaint through one of the other councillors This in the opinion of Councillor Jack Greer will expedite of the complaint as well as repairs where necessary Greer made the point at last weeks council meeting after Councillor Norm Elliott reported a complaint from residents of Victoria St that dirt and sand left on the street following the spring thaw has still not been removed He said even youngsters are having difficulty riding bicycles there Councillor Masales expressed the opuuon the sand and dirt might be a result of erosion of a on the street following recent heavy rains Mayor explained the absence of the town motorized sweeper on Victoria St The intent behind the purchase of the sweeper was that it be used on the towns main streets where there are curbs and the
