The Acton Free Wednesday September Elaine Johnson Randy Mitchell j married at St Albans Sept Family Page By Wendy TbomMO When started writing this column four yean ago many of the tale I told were about our animals the horses dogs cats geese Andy the ferret and many others Lately I think Ive gotten away from having as many animal tales because when youre on a farm the animals go one by one sometimes theyre replaced and sometimes not I think too that when yon lose so many of them you stop becoming Involved with them because of course It hurts when you lose an animal youve become fond of Tootling Besides back then I didnt really have that much else to write about but now with all this tootling back and forth to the Rockies and having a wider range of interests there are other things to write about too But lately people have been stopping by to find out for themselves Just whats been going on In the back pasture Two and a half years ago I wrote so much about my mare having twins stories of them growing op that people are curious as to how things turned out in the end There have been many changes since I last wrote about the pasture I hardly know where to start Most of the activity around the barn concerned both the cats and the geese so maybe 111 start with As usual our three female cats bad kittens within a week of one another Tansycat in the den CockEyed Cat a basket down stairs and Tansey- tan the bathroom The last ones were premature I dad away with them Then Tansytwo with motber- intact moved with br to help take care of THEM Her interference became so bad that Tansy to move her family of range Rbt now I can look out the and see two busard type way up high circling round and roond Im keeping en eye on mem just in case theyre keeping an eye on me bound She who stretched out on the lawn Cat In sack After a week or so Tansytwo decided for some reason that she wanted a kitten of her own Ebbed one and moved it from little hay bam Into the tag barn When she had two tucked away in a pile of feed sacks TansyCat tried to bring the remaining three back up to the house I kept taking them down then she would fetch some from the big barn and Tansytwo would move a few back Cock- Eyed cat kittens got mixed up there too and were being hauled all over the place It wasn t after two of Cats little ones died that I realized this dragging around was getting and brought the remaining two small ones up to me bouse where I could keep an eye on them Then Tansy decided that the house was much more comfortable after all and the next day she tod her up I found them all sitting on the doorstep with expectant looks on then- faces Waal Kit So now we have a houseful of kittens under inside and draped over Incidentally there are two not spoken for if anyones interested Meanwhile Im tome it at my feet and When I pot at back id He tax ptiaiaUy lacked id a buff and took off I ioSomtA the far bay bare where already a daws anflimocoixp In leas flam a Tansy bad Misled dam and Kb mat was tor a few Ays then Maw they were and she moved la in J CoctEyed Cat and bar down there and everybody settle down to occupations of and playing We got up the morning to find her siting in the front hall very abject a face full of quills Unfortunately she had them her mouth too so I phoned me good Dr got him out of bed when a person get up at JO seems quite so acceptable bow to phone else to me that is St was bundled into the car and into town and on return was stretched out in the shade till she comes to Probably to those bnds eyes she looks quite dead I thin I d better go out and make some signs of hie so they dont come down for a closer look Goose stones next week Elaine Myra Johnson and Randy Warren Mitchell were married in an afternoon double- ring
