notes At the regular meeting Thursday October Acton Parks and Recreation Committee dealt with the following items of business Arena manager Harold reported gate receipts for the first Sunday afternoon evening hours To someone starting at or S in the morning in Guelph 11 at night might look pretty good Marks said Mr Townsley assured the committee all local teams are looked after and ice is booked solid up until each evening Mr reported an offer to have an automatic skate sharpener Installed in the arena The machine operates after the deposit of cents in a coin slot Townsley said the committee third period tying the score Kurtz third goal gave Fergus a one goal lead but Sabres stormed back to level the count on Pete Morrisons second goal of the game and take a lead when 16 year old rookie Rams junior lacrosse team and the return of minor lacrosse to town have been named first recipients of the Charlie Thomson Memorial Plaque for their outstanding con tributions to recreation in Acton Mayor Duby presented the handsome plaque for the first time during the pre game ceremonies at Sundays Junior hockey opener Both men will also receive keeper plaques The plaque was donated last year to the Acton Parks and Recreation Committee by the local Legion Minor Sports Association in memory of Charlie Thomson a popular retired gentlemen who worked tirelessly for betterment of recreation in Acton before his death last winter time recipients were chosen September by a committee made up of chairman Barry Inscoe Jean McPhail and Denis Gibbons and names were kept secret until Sunday Suited Juveniles Mr and Mr Hall first organized a Juvenile lacrosse team in town in 1968 The team enjocd minimal success but the following year blossomed into a real contender placing second In a six team
