OUR READERS WRITE Residents deserve consideration than sis months ago we packed up our belongings and with great joy and anticipation moved to very pretty spot on Elizabeth Drive In Acton After seven years of looking for a place that had both a sense of spaciousness and beauty yet not a rural site we found our present home I am afraid our toy has been short lived week the Free Press published the story that the lions Club wants to move the old station to the small portion of parkland on Elizabeth Drive I have parkland In quotation marks as I was told no uncertain terms fay someone who said he- knew that the property mentioned Is owned by the town I quote his words The town can do anything it likes with that property Is this the way Acton Is run The article said only three houses backed onto this particular area and one faced it In reality alotmorethanonehousewouldlook onto an old station Do you not think that these families who have put their lifesavings and then some into their homes deserve some consideration The residents here are proud of this area many have spent their own money and given of their own time trying to Improve the parkland much of it reclaimed land why not leave this spot open and let us help keep It nice not only for the people of but for all Actonltes to enjoy If the Lions Club members feel this building is really needed surely some method could be found to move It to Prospect Park perhaps along Park Avenue and locate it where It sit at anyone front or back doorstep Rather than take over the station could the members of the Lions Club not put their time and talent to good use and work with one of the other groups to fix up the or scout hall I understand that both of these places are In need of repair Sincerely The Acton Free Press Wednesday February approval of phase three Need water more than garbage Ont Dear Sir I am delighted to learn the city of Toronto may be going to dump thousands of tons of garbage in a quarry in North The timing Is perfect the site of the quarry and townships form the watershed of Halton County Soon these two townships will become North HaltonBegion and this dumping Issue will give the voters a chance to sec what kind of mettle likely candidates are made of Those people In who cried out against fluoridation claiming It would poison the water will surely have something to cry about when our water If filtered through Toronto garbage About five years ago I read that Toronto garbage disposal was a business per year It seems that Halton could be expected to suffer the filth whilst someone lines their pockets for the price a couple of dollars per year quarry licence and the miserable assessment of a few buildings One thing is clear to me Georgetown Acton Milton and points between will have to make more noise than the people of Mlnto or we could become the garbage centre of Ontario A Johnston YEARS OP HISTORY inches up the steep grade out of along 7 High way on a six mile journey to Black Creek
