the Acton Legion Minor Hockey Association winds up another successful season with its first annual Day of Champions For the first time championships in all age groups will be decided on the same day and team and individual trophies will be presented to winners on the ice The day Is not reserved only for champions however since all teams will get a chance to play beginning at in the morning Championship games will begin at pan In the past years championship series ended on several different nights and were presented at a year end banquet in April Last year with the growth of our league It was necessary to divide this banquet into two sections Legion Minor Hockey president Kerwin ex year if all pmrtidpanta and re were included even mil arrangement would be overcrowded Obviously some new method had to be found so we decided to stage a Day of on which all would play We have always regretted that parents could not Midgets qualify for tournament be included In our banquet plans and this new arrangement will allow them to take part in the day as well For the past month playoffs have been conducted In all age groups to narrow the number of teams eligible for the championship down to two These two will meet In a sudden death for the championship Saturday Playoff system First round total goals aeries narrowed the number of teams down to three in the six team atom and peewce leagues The remaining three teams then played a round robin series to eliminate one team In the four team novice and bantam leagues all teams took part in a round robin series with the top two
