the Bureaus 16th annual county wide contest for grade five students Their schools were presented with the insurance trophies PattyJo lives at Cresc Georgetown and is a student at Holy Cross Separate School Georgetown Richard lives on Seventh Line Georgetown and attends Speyside Public School Honorable mention winners were Monica and Dino Dal of Holy Rosary Separate School Of Milton Danielle Guiot of St Vincent Separate School in Oakville and Yves of Sacre Separate School Georgetown Each received a certificate of achievement and a sliver dollar Parents teachers The presentations were held at a dinner in their honor In Milton Fire Hall attended by about well wishers freighters from the five fire departments contest judges from Fire Depart ment municipal councillors parents and the top two winners teachers and principals attended Warden Mrs Anne MacArthur presented the pen set and certificate to Richard Norris Guest speaker Ron Weir Chinguacousy chief fire prevention officer presented PattyJos prizes Donald and John Cobum of Insurance presented the school trophies to principal of Holy Cross and principal Ron Howell Both winning entries will be entered In an all Ontario poster contest sponsored by the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs Start early The children who entered this contest will be a lot more conscious of the dangers of fire In the future speaker Ron Weir told the audience He explained It was difficult to teach fire prevention to adults so firefighters do as much work as they can with children to Impress them of the need for fire prevention at an early age in the hope the knowledge will stay with them to adulthood Taking advantage of a captive audience of municipal government of he suggested politicians too often legis late by catastrophe I don t know
