pounds was not a deterrent loTfie Hughes who were determined to bring into Canada and make her part of their family Since adoption the Bangladesh government has doubled the price it charges overseas parents or relief agencies who want to adopt a child The increase has shacked many Western welfare workers who were already incensed at the Idea of having to pay at all for an adoption of children from a country where famine prevails Thousands of children are dead and dying and to take the children for adoption Is to literally rescue them from early death me Hughes admit to being incensed at having to pay such a large sum of money to the Bangladesh government because they disagree with the principle It like having to buy a child said Jean Hughes The couple said they considered the matter deeply but felt the child welfare was a great deal more Important than the principle involved Their concern is that high price for orphan adoption could be a deterrent to other potential rents What angers the couple is We don even know where the money is going said Peter He feels the Bangladesh government Is doing everything it can to discourage and make adoptions as difficult as possible Some
