adult guard was that of the community Crosswalk At the last village meeting the trustees instructed secretary Hockey to send an application to the Ministry of Transportation and Communication staling that the village agrees to pay the of adult crossing guards They asked that a legal crosswalk be established Until the board of trustees hears from the ministry the matter is pending approval The present chairman of the board of trustees Gary sees the matter as one of vital Importance He feels the area Is dangerous He says that when the highway is being reconstructed within the next few years the Department of Transport and Communication should make allowances for pedestrian sidewalks throughout the village on both sides of the Speed reduction The trustees made such a request to the ministry They were informed the matter would be considered The board requested the Ministry of Transportation and Com to consider the feasibility of reducing speed in the Harris St area of Highway No satisfaction was received Also considered at the November meeting was Ihe of having the children token school from Harris St via bus The suggestion was ruled out however when the trustees considered the possibility of children being hit when trying to board the bus com ng from the opposite direction One young village child wjis hit by a car the vicinity of the crossing a year and one ago The
