smaller ones the fiasco became nightmare and the proud thriving Town of Acton years old and growing was caught in the squeeze The town council was scuttled and the new order was ushered In Developers manipulators and on the spot moved in The name of the new town la Halton Hills which actually mourns Georgetown Actons long time so- called neighbor and friend No time was lost before Georgetown Milton and our socalled friend began to call shots and Acton became a pawn In a chess game Our hardearned equipment was at once shuttled to Georgetown Our own welltrained and for fire equip merit plus a fine Fire Chief Mick Holmes was out also In favor of George town Even the moll changed Georgetown Instead of Acton No time wan lost before the New Order boys were demanding larger salaries then Hamilton and liurimgton calling the plays outsiders moved In to live In Acton for convenience but to work and spend elsewhere Our old reliable became the target of Growlers and Groancrs Smells were bad words blamed on Board- more but wore there long before developers sold houses to demanding clients No mention of smell People leave Acton to work in Toronto and and also do big buying elsewhere Some live in Guclph and wonc In Acton There are many in Acton today for convenience only but In no way do they wish to become In volved My wife and I have met people here In Toronto from Europe who live in Acton but in no way would they work there or be come Involved In the affairs or Acton they couldnt care less There are even people in Acton who were bom there and couldnt care less as long as they are not Inconvenienced by smell or responsibility yet would pass the buck to someone else Even the swans and ducks on Fairy Lake are no longer welcome but are classes as hybrids and freeloaders We have in Acton Hurst and Watson and other damned good ones too I am no longer in Acton In Its worth I say all In Acton should get together and drive Regional Government out before Its too damned was an important Although such break fasts have been held before they arc not regular happenings and each one becomes a real celebration Daughters of Knox Sundays breakfast was organized prepared members of the Daughters of Knox Church school Mrs Tom Watson was tho head convener assisted by Mrs Andrew Mrs Mac Mrs Hob Paul Mrs Brian Moore Mothers of Church School children also assisted Over 41
