Wed Jul 1975 is jot A day at the Mariposa Folk Festival held at the Toronto Island recently was one of delight and entertainment for people of all ages and kinds For the very young to the elderly there Was music workshops craft booths puppetry and even play acting which depicted the rich tradition and life style of the artists parti Tone of the festival was rich with color as the enthusiasm of large audiences meshed with the performers From mid morn ing starting times until sundown each evening visitors were treated to songs of French Canada with its Quebec traditions as it was linked with music from Irish and Scottish performers Black music was to heard in tradi tional southern gospel styles work songs and primitive blues Native peoples demonstrated crafts and the audience crowded to see the Bird dance performed by the Six Nations Dancers Sing were also part of the three day festivities and dance groups would draw on their audiences to participate in spontaneous fun Spirit of the festival was one of camaraderie as whole families congregated and young and old of mufti backgrounds mingled in a phenomenal display of brother hood and goodwill Run Donor rfww to
