OUR READERS WRITE Coffee now beer bottle later Apt 2195 Jane Street Downs view Ontario Jan 27 1976 1A3 The Acton Free Press Hub Acton Ontario Dear Sir Kindly accept from my sister Katie and myself our sincere thanks and appreciation for your interest in things of the past as far as Acton is concerned and its children which we were in that era My Dad was a stone mason and it seems that he liked the idea of leaving some memento in what he built I know of one home in Toronto where he had all the work men on the their name on a piece of paper he got the daily paper a bottle of beer and some bottle caps and in the corner of hat house maybe some day in the future someone will find that The wolf bounty Re The Bounty I am ven much disturbed the in favour of reintroducing wolf in Township The his received poor press most of which is warranted Main people cling to thur Little Red Riding Hood notions ignore recent enlightened rescirch Television document Tries such is The Wolf Men of a Legend and I Mow at Never Crv Wolf area attempt to reeducate the public But this takes time and he wolf life in some areas is in jeopardy I sympathize with he who loses livestock to wild animals I also the township concern over for these losses However surch the wolf bounty is not the only answer It en courages the irresponsible to shoot thing resembling a wolf whether it is guilty or not in order to collect the A ily s German shepherd out to do his morn ing business is as likely to be shot as the wolf To illustrate the difficult in identifv ing a wolf is the following article from the Kitchener Record Dec ember 197j Kingston Townships I do visit one of my lifelong neighbors who is Mr Charlie Green of and Mr Ray of Acton If there is any way that I could assist he Acton Free Press or any individual of the post as far as my home town is concerned I will be only too willing to assist them My sister Katie and I live in Toronto Sarah lives between seasons in OnL and Florida Emily moved B many years ago and is now residing In a nursing home George Casey has passed away The McLeod boys names if my memory serves me right were Gordon and Norma a The memory of the past has been brought back by a note in a Camp Coffee bottle maybe in the future a bottle of beer will have come to the front Many thanks for your interest and also Mr for bringing this to our attention new had difficult for thib goal in settle for in out dated method that h is shown I for man reasons In my opinion the numbers of council who voted in of lit showed moral irrispons Council privileges and pay Ontario February 1 1W6 To the Council Members of Eramosa Township Clerk Lloyd Township Office a No 1 Ontario Dear Sirs and Madam I should like to comment on the proposed change in the stipend system about which I read in the local newspaper At present I believe councillors receive a flat salary for attending council meetings to do the work needed manage our Township they do this on behalf of the tax payers who elected them However if there are more than meetings in the year they receive an extra sum for each ex Ira meeting of council In this way they arc recompensed for any loss or inconvenience the extra meeUngs cause them The councillors also represent the taxpayers on other boards they attend these meetings as well on behalf of tht public At present they are not paid for these meetings These arc for committee meetings of the Recreation Board Lions Club the Finance culture Social Service or other Com Each one of the councillors now may be on two or more of these com Thechingein the system concerns he proposed change in which he would be paid for each and every meeting they altend whether it be a regular council meeting or a committee meeting of some other Board It has been argued that the total sum paid under such a proposed system would be less than the present system I wish to disagree The very fact that members would be paid by attendance would only encourage attendance at as many meetings as possible for the sake of extra income I do not accuse the members of being ab normally greedy I merely state lhat this is a fact of nature it is Mans humanity to be such Also I feel that the other persons on the committee are not paid as they arc usually volunteers thus it would be unfair to pay council representatives Besides I do not feel thai this would encourage restraint as we are continually being en raged o practise Since the council members knew they would have lo attend these when they were electioneering it is wrong to now object to the work members of the council would consider it a privilege be appointed to these committees and boards Taxpayers are also pleased to have councillors representing them in this way I do not think privileges need to be paid hey arc in themselves payment enough I have made my point ic I do nol think the present system of sahry stipend should be altered Mrs Dnjbtr Box Mary Sir Rockwood Drivein rejected It
