Georgetown power corridor Kathy Cooper lawyer from the Ombudsman s office told a gathering of Hills farmers recently At a meeting held at Stewarttown Hall on June 15 Mrs Cooper and Gilles explained the Ombudsman was originally ordered off the case brought to him by the Interested Citizens Group because the decision to go ahead with lhe Bradley to Georgetown corridor was made by the Ontario cabinet She said the Ombudsman s office does not have the auth Investigate cabinet decisions noting the Om budsmnn was only able to vestigale the hydro line for a period of time because no one was aware of the order in council designating the route the line would follow Mrs Cooper said the Ombudsman office might be able to get involved in the case once expropriation in quiry hearings which many citizens along the route have requested are completed She explained Ontario must show the inquiry off the expropriation is fair sound and reasonably nee ess Should inquiry officer agree with citizens that the expropriation t needed and the Minister of overrules his decision as has happened in he past then the Ombudsman office can investigate the Minister decision she said Keen group set for
