rates Additional major costs are attributed to program staff changes and the need for improved salary and mileage costs Changes in the Training Schools Act have meant that the courts are now referring up with some guidelines for tht occasion Hills council decided Monday Predicting that some years there could be several sports teams win Ontario champion ships and the town could end Up pulling on a dinner for people Councillor Mike Arm strong urged some guidelines be developed by tion committee Councillor Roy Booth said there would never likely be more than 100 people who would be honored at such a dinner If a town of people can t honor those who spread the name and bring the municipality fame there is something the mailer There is big difference between just having these people to council and giving them pins and giving them certificates of achievement and pins of the town coat of arms at a dinner Booth said He added this idea was based on the fact the only place the received any recognition for this years tremendous achievements was in the press Armstrong said he sup ported the idea of giving pins and certificates at council but t understand how the town was going to put on a dinner when a policy t been established as who would be asked attend when il would be where it would be and how it would be Councillor Hie Morrow said he was shocked by the discus and noted the town I done anything like this in its three year history and Bug il might be an excel way of helping bring Hills logelher He noted excellent dinners of this type were held In Georgetown In the past and they were great successes Councillor Hyde warned lhe town must be careful in iLs planning or else more officials end up it dinner than people being honored Council the item back to administration formed to develop the mechanics of local government as defined by the bill It has been very demanding frustrating to all concerned and at times very disappointing For the past three years I have served Acton ward 1 in Halton Hills as follows PATMcKENZIE AREA COUNCIL Finance Committee for three years and chairman in Planning Board for two years and chairman in Special Committee of council for municipal properties arenas ambulance fire and public works etc Council s representative on the Regional Safety Council and the Library Board for 1976 REGIONAL COUNCIL Planning Committee for three years Admn and Finance for one year Conservation Authority and two conservation committees for part of and this year Appointed to the District Health Council by Gov t in 1976 Appointed to special committee to review Bill 151 in Sept 1976 Certainly I could not have assumed these responsibilities on your behalf if I had not taken an early retirement as a school principal An important part of one work is helping people who have concerns and problems This I enjoy very much In September I was appointed to a committee to review Bill Although you may not realize it there is a group in who would abolish Area Councils and establish one tier government THIS MUST NOT BE ALLOWED TO HAPPEN unless all responsibilities are returned to the Area Councils I have worked and will continue to work if it is the wish of the people to establish strong viable area councils which will bring local government closer to the people I see no reason why Area Councils should not exercise more control in many matters that concern us This is one reason why I have decided to let my name stand for re election I plan to survey Ward 1 to become more aware of your concerns and be better able to represent the wishes of the majority In closing I would like to thank everyone for their help in the past and respectfully seek your support in the election in December I f you have a problem a concern or a question please feel free to contact me at 853 0614 Pat McKenzie
