B 1 The Acton Free Press Student Association for good of school by Boris On September 14 in the two morning assemblies the new Student Association was presented lo the student body of Acton high school In the spring a group or staff and students believed there was a way to involve a larger number of students in and that an energetic group of such people could create a ver active association with the needs of the students in mind Good participation few years the Athletic Socielj has provided a dvnamie program of intra murals sports field trips and self supporting fund raising such as food booths and Casino nights A high percenlagt of the students were invoked in these activities Their effort were recognized with awards trophies and a point svstem that rewarded participation The enthusiasm of Societv has provided incentive and support for newly developing Studtnt What does the new Student look like It will consist of one representative from existing club in the school a student committed to club involve mcnt and who wants to help in coordinating activities for the entire school In addition to these representatives there will be three student members chosen from the school at large as well as staff members Harold Swal low Bill and Jones The first assembly intro duced the school to its clubs and presented the need for funds support these clubs and other related activities These funds were raised b the sale of Student tion cards For the low price or S3 a student would be able to attend school dances play on teams attend S A supported field trips obtain discounts at co operating local merchants help maintain ictivilits which add to their own learning and school spirit The initial sales were out standing about percent of the student body has pur chased cards The co operation of home form teachers was apparent They assisted to a large extend in the sales Congrit ulalions and class awards were presented the classes of Rick McArthur and Brian where per cent sales were achieved Within the next few weeks much of this money will be returned to individual clubs after they make requests to the S A for required funding From the assemblies and card salts the fledgling A helped stl up and manned the high school exhibit the fall fair high school float was entered and won a prize in the class darning strength the presented the first dance of
