Roman Catholic Separate School Board for instructional purposes and that students there have the use of specialized facilities in our schools in Acton on a limited basis as available all in accordance with the attached Memorandum of Agree ment Carried is a source of to the members of our Board that cooperative attitudes and planning by both the Board and staff have resulted in this proposal Making the best possible use of the facilities and resources entrusted to us by the public is obviously a high priority with your Board as it is with ours We are confident that this attitude of cooperation will extend to the school level and that alt of the children involved will benefit Yours truly Mrs Judy Alexander Chairman November A Mrs Alexander Board of Education Guelph Line North 0 Box Burlington Ontario Dear Mrs Alexander Thank you for your letter of October 29th note with pleasure the decision of the Halton Board of Education in the matter of the Board s approval to the Acton school motion I too view with pride the manner in which negotiations were conducted and the continuing cooperative attitude that has been a factor in relationships between both school boards The Trustees of the Separate School Board unanimously approved the Memorandum of Agreement at its regular meeting or October 1976 and view the establishment of the first separate school in Acton in a cooperative undertaking with the Board of Education as a significant event I am confident like yourself that this spirit of cooperation will continue in the day to day operation of the two schools to the benefit of the children and parents of both school systems Sincerely Sherk Chairman Mr Timbrell Why ram corridor through Conn Ont Nov 1976 An Open Letter to Hon Dennis Timbrell Ontario Energy Minister Dear Sir It appears the public relations depart of Ontario Hydro which you direct is working overtime in a desperate at tempt to persuade residents along Hydro s proposed high voltage lint between Bruce and Milton that the line won t affect them We are simply trying to inform the people about the possible effect of these huge high voltage lines when they run close to where people work and live We will continue to write letters and do anything else necessary to stop this terrible comer tocorner crossing of our land until questions are answered to our satisfaction Despite the soothing platitudes uttered by yourself and by Hydro s public relations men you appear determined to ram this route through without an in dependent study of alternate routes Why You have made it clear that regardless of the results of the Durham Hearing or Necessity held several months ago this line will proceed Why We have your letter of Oct to us in which you say that our concerns were all answered by Hydro experts at the burgh Environmental Board last summer Mr Timbrell those hearings raised more questions than they answered and provided not a single guarantee More recently we have Hydro letters to newspaper editors complaining about the number of letters we and the other farm families along the route are writing Without an independent stud you can have no assurance tint this route is desirable or necessary If these high lines are as safe as and Hydro the are why do you refuse to give us an unconditional guarantee or a guarantee of an kind that women and children who live and work near them I be injured or killed by the electrical buildup on machinery and buildings near these lines Hydro current and belated attempt to allay our fears by testing 30 Hydro linemen for a short period of time isn t sufficient What about people who must be exposed to this hazard for most of their lives What about women and children Most of these concerns Mr Timbrell would largely disappear if Hydro followed its own manual and ran trans mission lines along back property lines have told us that current pro posed diagonal crossing of our farms was decided five ears by the and that there is no That sir is not good enough What sort or pressures are being on you to stick to this abortive decision We are well aware that Ontario Hydro has the expropriation power to proceed with this line regardless of mate and honest objections This power was never intended to trample on demo cratic rights of citizens as is now being done We will continue to Tight monstrous thing with every means at our disposal letters demonstrations or whatever Yours truly Theresa Manion Patricia Wilson519323 1717 Hard hit by Ont hydro Ontario Hydro in its attempt to discredit anyone who objects to its proposed Bruce to MUton highvoltage transmission line has made me be a fool or a liar I am neither 1 am a beef cattle farmer whose will be hard hit by Hjdros stupid and arrogant plant to push this monstrous volt line corner tocorner across my farm In reply to a recent letter of mine to newspaper editors Hydros Public Relations man Taylor states that I own property NEAR the proposed line The proposed Ifne would cross my farm corner complete with support towers and the acknowledged hazards of working and living under these lines Hydro and the Davis Government s abortive attempts to discredit me and the almost farmers who object to this line must fall Hydros stated policy is to avoid crossings of make an exception in this case and when we ob ject tell us in effect to go to hell They refuse lo grant us an independent study of the entire area surely a demo cratic right and say that because the route was determined by the five years ago there is no looking back Individually and collectively wc have proven to Hydro that there are routes from Bruce to the system that wouldn t destroy farmland They refuse lo even consider these alternatives including the obvious one from Bruce lo near It is obvious to anyone who followed events in recent years that Ontario Hydro has become a monster responsible only to itself Its influence over the Davis Govern ment is apparent by the statements of Dennis Timbrell Davis Energy M nlster that this line will proceed regardless of any objections hearings or whatever Yours truly Harvey Wilson Thawing out method causes basement fire
