community affairs Ethel as she was affectionately known to her friends had a great interest in rural young people She was a member of Campbellville Debating club Following her graduation from Institute now part of the University of in she presented lectures and demonstration courses In food and clothing In she left the Women s Institute department to accepl a with MacLcan Publish ing Company where she edited The Farmers Mnga line In 1922 she returned to extension work for the Women Institutes and began the first garment clubs for rural girls This led A gifted writer her better
