President absent meeting goes on The Acton Press Wednesday Rev Bruce Eaton to speak at Trinity Sun The Rev Bruce Eaton is to be the guest speaker at Trinity United church on Sunday February His presence at the service will focus attention on the Ten Days for World Development theme for this year which is an emphasis on food Let the hungry feed themselves Bruce is well qualified to speak on this topic and share his experiences Following his graduation from Queen Theological School in 1362 and his ordination as a United Church minister Bruce and his family were sent to India as missionaries of the United Church During that time to he became lively involved in well drill ing since the area in which his family was living was suffering a severe drought Bruce is a practical man and he believes that some times God appears to thirsty people in the form of water The search for water and his well drilling activities were much appreciated by the people and the church realized they had an ex missionary in the field REV BRUCE Eaton son of Mrs Lillian Eaton Acton is guest speaker at Trinity United Church Feb ruary 27 Following the India lence the Eaton family re turned to Canada and Bruce was minister at SI Pauls United Church Onllia Then the mission field beckoned again and the set ml for Bangladesh in where Bruce worked for Inter national Voluntary Services and was sponsored by the Relief and Rehabilitation section of the Roman Catholic Church He has gained considerable expertise in well drilling and while there in vented a water filter carved out of bamboo For the past year Bruce and family have been home together near Staff a Ontario Next week Bruce leaves again for another overseas assignment He has accepted a one year special appoint ment to Zaire formerly the Belgian Congo to do well drilling this time sponsored by the Presbyterian Church of the S A He will be I oca ted at Marjl people now carry drinking water for ten miles Bruce Eaton is no stranger to the Acton area His mother Mrs Lillian Eaton lives at the Acton Rest Home on Main St and is an Eider Emeritus of the Trinity congregation Bruce still awns land near Campbell ville not far
