late Percy and Mlnota Peavoy was bom on the and she at tended S Eramosa school In 1918 she married William West and lived at Ft Acton When their only child the late West was about years old they moved to a farm at 1 where her diligence as a farm home- maker and helper was much respected When her son married and left the farm home in 1944 to train as a mortician at Rumley Funeral home Acton she and Mr West sold their farm home and moved to Church Street Acton While Mr West worked at Force Electric Co Mrs West worked at Storey Glove Co and later at Chainway and Newton Stores Following the sudden death of her husband Mrs West her son and law bought a home on Church Street where she lived until having to be admitted to Eden House Nursing Home and Hospital In her son passed away suddenly and she and daughterln law Velma continued to live and care for the home on Church Street Although of reticent nature Mrs West was a willing helper in making dressings for the Cancer Society and did much knitting for Lakeside Chapter I D Her prime interest was the immaculate care of her home she loved flowers and caring for the grounds and flower beds surrounding her home Funeral service was conducted by the Rev Charles Beaton of Trinity United Church on February 15 at the Shoemaker Funeral Home WW Price Funeral service was held yesterday for William Walter Price of Churchill S Mr Price died Ridge Cemetery Winchester CM Kitching A lifelong resident of Rockwood Cameron MacKenzie Kitching died in Centennial Manor Milton on Friday Mr Kitching was born in Nassagaweya township 74 years ago the son of the late Mr and Mrs Colin Kitching He married the former Viola Wtngrove and they farmed near until they moved to Halton Centennial Manor two years ago Mr Kitching rested at the Shoemaker Cripps Georgetown Ronald Cripps George Barnes Acton Brandon Crewson William Meredith Milton and Gordon Werden Leavens Werden Leavens former publisher and editor of The Bolton Enterprise died denly on Wednesday Febru ary 18 at Sun Coast Hospital Largo Florida while vaca tioning in that slate He was In his year Mr Leavens served on var committees of both The Canadian Weekly News papers Association and Weekly Newspapers Association and served as secretarymanager of the latter for a record 22 years He was president of in 196061 and upon his retire ment from The Bolton Enter prise in 1976 received the muchcoveted Gold Quill Award for years of distin guished service to the com munity newspapers In he was the first chairman of the executive committee of CWNA The work with this committee took him to Ottawa many times giving briefs on behalf of CWNA to the cabinet and Prime Minister Mr Leavens sold The Enterprise in February 1976 to Community Newspapers Limited At the time of his death he was president and manager of Leavens Printers and Publishers in Bolton The Enterprise was printed at Dills Printing for several years and he was a frequent visitor to the plant as well as valued friend He was a noted authority on the early history of Bolton and was a member of the AlblonBolton Historical Soc iety and the York Pioneer Historical Society Involved in community affairs he served on Bolton council and at the time of his passing was Chairman of the Bolton Hydro Electric Commission In 1967 he was appointed to the Board of Governors of Sheridan College and was also a member of the Jour nalism Advisory Committee For leadership as a member and chairman of the HumbeJ Valley Conservation Authority from the time of his appointment in 1948 Werden Leavens received much praise He is survived by his wife Marjone son Werden Jr and daughter Christina Mrs Ken Graham all of Bolton He was the loving grand father of Asa Roger and Douglas Leavens and Sarah Graham He also left two Mrs Bessie Code Toronto and Mrs Myra Justice Niagara Falls A private family service was held from Egan Brothers Funeral Home Bolton on Saturday February 19 with interment in Laurel Hill Cemetery David
