wife and family and many friends Mrs Hannah reports Spring is the busiest time of the year for Cubs and Scouts The last two weekends almost wore us out In On May 1315 Scouts Campbell Dwayne Maltby Doug Hannah and Lee with Ballmafad Dick and Vic went on the annual District Explorer hike The hike was from Joseph Gibbons school in Georgetown to the Hal ton Radial Museum near Rock wood mostly along the Guelph Radial line This trail is not always well marked and one section had many felled trees in the way This hampered the boys considerably as they had pound or more packs on their backs The boys even helped to put out a bush fire on the way and deserve a well done Long hikes On the same v eekend of our Cubs went with leaders Elaine and Dave and parent Carol Galliford on a 10 mile hike along the Guelph Radial line from the Scout hut here as far as Blue Springs Scout Reserve It was a beautiful day and everyone had a good time Last Saturday five cubs who attended the previous hike went on a mile hike with leaders Elaine Doug and Steve and parents Gord and Pete The hike went up the Line to miles north of Highway west to the third line and south to Acton through Acton as far as Steve Thompson house for a drink back along the highway and down the Sixth line to the Hannahs house for a swim It was a hot day and many hills had to be climbed on foot but all had fun Cubs receiving some time yet Do hope you are soon feeling much better Lille meeting Mrs Smith accompanied Mrs Ada Kirk wood to the Erin Horticultural monthly meeting on Wednesday evening After the business part of good weather and have special meetings to pursue some of the outdoor badges and many camping activities are plan ned Auxiliary After a magnificent Pot Luck Supper for the Brownies Guides and their Mothers organized by Mrs June Barnes incidentally we would really recommend this kind of banquet because it Is easy and requires no collection of money a new executive of the Mothers Auxiliary was the value of Guiding In our society Did you know that one out of every four girls between the ages of seven and twelve in Ontario Is a member of the Guiding organization the evening clearing tables and washing dishes Guest of honor The guests of honor were Mrs Betty Petrie District Commissioner for Spirit Valley and Mrs Kay Steven son her deputy whose terms of office are completed this year We are all very sorry to lose these dear friends who have kept us leaders on the straight and narrow during the past five years We hope that they will remain active in the Guiding organization in other capacities Gifts were presented to Mrs Petrie and Mrs Stevenson by the Mothers Auxiliary and by the Brownies and Guides We made six place mats and ser vlettes for each Commis si oner decorated with
