Georgetown Milton and Acton They all swam down to the Hilton fair grounds and celebrated- Christmas About 1G0 of the wee blue and brown lads gathered for where gifts were made and then exchanged Many games and a final were among the activities which made a very full day for both the boys and their It was a joint event between North and Milton districts Final camp The Wolf Cub section did not let the weekend slip by either North Halton district held a final camp for Cubs over ten years of age who would bt going up to Scouts soon The camp was held at the Glen Camp near Mono Mills Cubs Wayne Chap pel Tim Jim Johnson Don McDonald and Brian Steckley attended the event which was run as Scout camp All of these lads will become Scouts within the next year In fact eight Acton Cubs ore now eligible to become Scouts Senior Cubs John Barrett Steven Darren Gord Goulding Jim Johnson Don McDonald Brian Steckly and Edward Wong can attend the Scout meeting this Thursday June second They are to wear Cub uniforms Scout section will be holding heir district cam tins weekend Scouts attending should bring St on Thursday for registration and crest Permission forms and food money con be re turned June This is us ually a busy month for stu dents and teachers as last minute projects are handed in and marked Last Thursday Art hit Acton High School The Art Club and dents from both semester one and two arranged an Art Show on Thursday evening Sidewalk art On there was a side- art contest which was open to all students The this year was Leslie Carter Tomorrow Thursday the annual Athletic Banquet and dance will be taking place The tickets are only each ind the banquet will be held it the legion where an awards will take place and a dance will follow at the high school Get your tickets it too late Next Monday is program day at Acton High On this day students will spend the morning attending all their by Jennifer first semester class for next year and the afternoon at tending second semester courses By doing this the dents will be able to arrange timetable changes this year to avoid the confusion that usually takes place In the fall Drives over The Outer Club Is sorry to that after Saturday June their monthly glass drives will be discontinued for the summer Thev are grateful to all who have supported them and are pleased to announce that they have raised more than to be children Questionnaires distributed by the South Central Regional Library System ask parents their opinions about the importqnee of such services as providing more Canadian books for children holding story hours for pre school children buying records and cassette tapes and helping children find information for school projects Thequeslionnaires arc part of a study of library services to children being sponsored by the South Central Regional Library System to help libraries choose goals and priorities for children services in the future Librarians library trustees and school person net throughout the region are also being surveyed to dis cover their view of the role of library services for children now and in the future The research is being carried out by the Centre for the first day held in store a visit to the Peterborough Lift Locks and our arrival at Carle ton University after eight hours of driving Later on in the evening we had a tour of the campus and later a dance was held in the On the second day we toured the War Museum Louner House which was the former residence of two Prime Ministers of Canada Sir Wilfrid and W Mackenzie King A guided tour of the Parliament Build ings and a trip to the National MuscumafCanndaconcluded a very interesting and tiring day On the third day was the guided tour of Henry and the return trip home Thanks to the mothers and teachers for their guidance and patience and to Denny s Bus Lines for use of their comfortable and attractive bus Also a very special thanks to Mr Allken our bus driver whose driving experience and supremacy brought us to and from w th the utmost safety Circus The circus held by the Kindergarten three classes went superbly It was a total success and all refreshments were sold All the winners
