aim As regular readers have no doubt recogniMd the Wed nesday night mens draw has not contributed loo much to the curling column this year Let mo put it another way We men have not contributed anything Well to bring everything up to date Bill rink of Steve Fred Shortlll and Walter Korpella tied the 00 first draw wllh a record of five wins and three losses apiece with the rink of Del Hickling Tom Martin and Don Garner This draw was very evenly matched and closely contested There will be a playoff game at a later date to determine a winner for the Adams Trophy The other rinks In order of finish were skipped by Pat Chamberlain and Fred New Those wondering about the development of novice curlers in our club can drop over any Wednesday as a good number of our curlers on the early draw are new to the game and arc shooting well The p m draw a year long affair has shaped up to be on exciting down lo Ihe wire battle for the Bank of Montreal trophy After practically all teams having experienced some ups and downs during the year the standings as of February 15 arc as follows Fred bald and Don Ross 3L Biff Porter JohnMin Ken flW Andy McKenzle and Crawford Caswell BUI 10L With but three games to go excluding playoffs this draw will no doubt be played to the last week and maybe rock before a winner can be deter mined Good luck to all While the oclock draw Is unique because of the number of new curlers involved the oclock draw has also deve loped a number of rather Interesting features For example apparently it can be a router painful exper playing front end apparently there are incon sistencies with some rocks it cant be our shooting apparently this draw can never start at pro apparently its the best night to learn lip reading Irom be hind the glass apparently some men are better pool shooters than rock shooters apparently shooters are better than righthanded shooters what else Is new As members are no doubt aware the growth and prosperity of any club is directly related lo the clubs providing a schedule of act vitics to reflect Ihe needs and or its membership Are your needs and Inter ests being met Do you enjoy social curling mixed or to explain some of the work and planning that goes into making this hockey tournament a success The Legion asks all pee wee teams in the country if they are interested and the first 15 to reply are accepted These teams are then sent tickets to sell and advised that they arc assured of at least two games each player will get a crest and up to 20 meals per team will be provided A prize is given to the team selling the most tickets There Is also a prize to the Acton player selling the most tickets Hot beef sandwiches on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday is available at the Legion at a nominal
