Year of growth for Acton fair executive To many people Acton Fall Fair is the three action packed days of fair which occur on the second weekend in September every year without fail But to the members of the Acton Agri cultural Society the actual fair is the climatic realization of an entire year of planning discarding of old ideas piemen ling of new arguing agreeing budgeting and per to make those three days the best they possibly can for the residents and guests of the Acton area Planning for the September fair which will be held September is 16 and IT has already started The new executive came Into force after the annual meeting In January and has already held its first regular meeting Meetings occur the second Tuesday of each month at Knox Presbyterian Church This year is to be a year of growth After three years of providing the required amount of prize monies they have been elevated from Class C to a Class B fair A class B fair entitles them to federal grants in addition to the provincial grants received as a Class C fair to assist in the fair being able to provide attractive prize money to attract class ex As a Class fair they arc also eligible far grants for up to 50 per cent of costs for any permanent structural improvements and per cent costs of any com mere in 1 class up to a maximum of 200 for each class if it meets with Ministry approval However after three years the amount of grant received for prize monies will be frozen and that will be the grant for the re mainder of their years as a Class fair Therefore the next three years ore going to be hectic as they drive to establish respectable prize monies in order to establish the grant It will take a lot of work and effort but the more people they have to help the easier it will be Executive mem urge all garbage collection study rejected by council Town funded garbage pick up for hamlet and rural rest dents went down the drain Monday at Halton Hills before the engineering department even had a chance thought rural residents are paying enough In taxes without having to pay for collection on top of that said the urban areas pay for their own garbage collection so he rural area would have to pay for municipality vehicles la asking for regional cooperation in getting an agreement with the Lome Scots militia unit to loan out six wheel vehicles and men who would search for stranded people Also in overwhelmingly rejected a study of rural or hamlet garbage collection TownHydro meet Mar 29 A special meeting of Halton Hills council will be held March 29 at the Seventh Line municipal building so council and public can hear from Ontario Hydro David Hydros Community Relations Officer along with other officials will speak to council regarding the Bruce to Georgetown power corridor land acquisition policies construction policies and practices and forest protection will be topics for the meeting Councillor George thought the meeting should be on a Saturday afternoon so residents could attend His suggestion of March or April l were rejected Mayor Tom Hill said Hydro wanted to talk just to council but the town is going to hold the meeting In public Councillor Pat Patterson said the
