13 Mr Heller has already set up his own practice in Acton and Brampton He is in partnership with Frank Weinstock a university and Osgoode Hall classmate Heller and Barristers Solicitors Notaries are now taking clients It has been a long road for Mr Heller but he feels the obstacles he had to endure to get to where he is will make him a better lawyer He will better understand the feelings of some of his clients because he himself has been placed in the same situation A native of Toronto Mr Heller found high school was getting him nowhere and decided to quit He travelled throughout North America When ready lo settle down he got a Job in a small store From there he worked his way up through larger and larger stores and found himself with a good position In the meantime he was married to the daughter of a very successful lawyer It had always been Mr Hellers goal to become a lawyer but when he left high school the goal faded away However seven years after he left he decided ho was there he articled with the Attorney General a office seconded to the Ministry of Consumer of Commercial Relations in Toronto for the first six months and the Crown Attorney s office in Milton for the second It was while attending law school that Mr Heller met his second wife Barb Without her he says he would never have made It through school and to the position he Is now In I would be where I am today if not for her sup port financially and morally Mr Heller is busy In his Brampton office during the day and available in Acton evenings and week ends This could change however if business becomes so great that It demands a full time person In the town He is also available to Acton people during the day If they need him He arranged this schedule because he feels most of the people in town work during the day Older lawyers have told him he will not be able to keep up the pace of day and night for long and will want his own life This is my life though he said I chose it and want it Mr Heller explained that when he has to go Into a jail to talk to a young client who has dropped out of school and got Into trouble he explains to him that just because the client did not finish it does not mean a life of crime is the only direction to take Mr Heller explains to them that he also left school and he has made it in the world In the cases of divorces or separations he explains he understands the anguish and sometimes frustrations of his client He feels he can give these people better service because he knows exactly what they are feeling The young lawyer think he will be too popular with other in the province He explained he is a perfectionist and carries this trait Into his career He in tends to make waves with other lawyers and will not take the easy way but will take the right way He ex plained many lawyers especially In large law firms in cities never sec their clients who arc Just not faces They will do cases quickly in order to get to the next case and the next dollar I demand a higher standard from myself than from anyone else he stated and will not be satisfied with doing half a Job Mr Heller said he is looking forward to his practice in Acton He ex plained he feels there is good competition In the town and hopes he can become as well respected as the other lawyers Partner Frank who Is also an engineer mainly handles the real estate and small corporate business while Mr Heller handles the law divorce separation marriage contracts adop tion etc and civil and litigation However each keeps his partner aware of what rases he is working on in case one is not in the office when a client comes in By working together Mr could speak to Mr Heller instead of that person making a wasted trip to he office In some in stances Mr Heller d the person
