Cat tails and a song of their choice the group took their second trophy ot the day M Z BENNETT JUNIOR choir took first place This year marked the fifieth year for the music in the music festival last Wednesday May 24 festival Z Bennetthostedtheaffair STARTING THE DAY out right M Z Bennett students took first place in the North Haiton music festival primary choir category The school won first in both of the categories they competed in Celebrating us liltieth year Ihc North music festival has seen many changes One thing that has remained the same is the winning combination of en Ihusiasm and hard work dis played by the eager par tlcipants each year This year the day long festival was hosted by M Z Bennett school In Acton with an estimated MOD to students from 13 schools taking part middle school In Acton and Georgetown Christian school from Georgetown dominated ihe tlrst place trophies by taking tacit Two firsts went to M i Bennett school in Acton one to Percy Merry from Milton one to Howard Georgetown and one to I Dick school In Milton students in the triple duet started the day off singing Madrigal of Spring with four other choirs competing for the trophy The winning streak started here ith their two entries taking both first and second place Third place went to Percy W Merry In the primary choir competition for schools over pupils M Bennett took first place singing Slay Little Blackbird Second and third place went to Harrison public school In Georgetown and die took second third place res went on to lake first In the Inter mediate division The large Pussy Willows Cat tails a song of their choice went to Percv Merry and third to M Bennett took their other first in the Junior division The Plaint of the imel took second in wn pi The three classes for school under 0 pupils were entered by Glen Williams I ime- two Georgetown schools Howard town and I Dick from Milton Schools under choir trophj went to W I Dick students Second was won I inn house and third Glen Williams Singing 1ea Christhn school won the first place trophj in the Junior companion worth and picked up he other two plaques Triple duet winners were from public school In Georgetown Georgetown Christian and LI chouse took the second and third place awards After lunch the Boys Unchanged Voices sang I Like to Sail Although there were two entries on the program only one school Percy Merry sang Singing Well Kant and Well Roar the Smith Changed Voices choir completed the round of flrsu for their school The Senior choir and the Triple Trio were both won by Georgetown Christian school placed second in these two Early in the afternoon the festival competition was interrupted for introductions and presentations i Clark the idjudlcalor was introduced to the audience Mr Clark is a consultant with Perth County Board of fcducation and Is quite musician in his own right Recently he received a Jubilee Medal for his work in the music field Mr Clark also teaches music Wilfred University and in music teachers the summer months Since this was the fiftieth for Music 1 wo special activities wire planned A competition was open to students before the festival Ihe program cover and a crest for
