The Acton Free Press Wednesday Juno Graduate ceremonies for elementary schools Graduation ceremonies for elementary school student are taking place this week Grade eight students from middle school held their ceremony on Tuesday evening at the legion Students gathered at the school where a class picture was taken A ceremony dinner and dance followed at the Legion St will hold their graduation est on Thursday evening The night will begin with a mass at St Joseph at 30 Awards presentations a buffet and dance will follow In the church basement The buffet was organized and supplied by the grade seven parents St Josephs by Tatjan Jsnwn and Joanne McArthur In our last article we have decided lo sum up our year and write a shortened ac count of the events that were Important To start with we would like lo say or our first year our school did very well in all compel events For in stance the track and field meet at Nelson Stadium in was enjoyed by all members Our primary or team competed against the schools in Acton for the time They thoroughly enjoyed themselves and hope to be able to do it again next year Our May winner In the track and field events was Taras who made he Separate School Tyke record in high jump and also did well again in the competi tlons here in Acton For the yearly speech our two finalists were Kim for the junior vision and Frank in the senior neither of the two placed they should be well congratulated on their efforts that got them so far Among other important events there was the school opening where Bishop Reding cut the ribbon in front of our school to officially announce the opening of St Joseph Robert Utile News by Janet and Scott On day June the primary students had play day On Monday this same group went to a museum ttc are sorry to be losing some teachers They are Mrs Mrs Scott and Mr Coe Mrs will be going to and Mrs Scott will be a remedial teacher Mrs Anderson will be going back to Brookville school Replacements for these School Unfortunately this year everyone will have to say good bye to Father Smye who Is leaving for a new parish Father was one of the people who made it possible for a separate school in Acton We thank him for all the school and class masses that he has brought about and organizing first communion for the grade two and confirmation for both the students from St Josephs and McKenzieSmith The grades seven and eight teacher for the afternoon Mr Lipp will be leaving this year and the students from grade seven and eight wish htm all the luck in his next vear He will be replaced by Mr Morris from Guelph who will teach both in the morning and afternoon The graduation ceremony will be held tomorrow night There will be a mass followed by a buffet and a dance as well as presentations of awards We know it will be enjoyed by all Lastly we would like to give a general thanks to the teachers and our principal Mr for making this year possible We hope to see you all here again on Sept sixth Have a safe and
