B12 Th Acton Free Press Wodnosday Dec Members entertain at Ballinafad UCW Halton 4H receive several scholarships by Winifred Smith The December meeting of the U C W was as usual in the form of a pot luck dinner and party It was held on Tuesday evening December in the basement of the Church Most members were able to be present They were accompanied at this special occasion by their husbands The committee in charge of setting up the tables and decorating them made a fine job as it put on the festive touch which added much to the enjoyment of the meal A large number sat down and enjoyed the delicious food When the tables were cleared the women met for a short business session All then Joined In for the evening program Mrs Eileen Brown head of the pro gram committee called first on the men s choir for a number It was followed by a quartet given by Alma Sin Emmerson Clarke Wella and Fred Shortill Quebec and I sure the gathering would have been disappointed If he had not come along There was a skit given by five ladles Alma Sinclair Barbara Joyce Clarke Eileen and Margaret Jnmlcson It was entitled The House of Unclaimed Blessing and caused some merriment Grace McEnery was called on to give a reading which brought back memories to some entitled Looking Back Three members of the had the Mrs Eileen Brown read the scripture Mrs Volmar told the Christmas story and Mrs Jamicson led in prayer To end the program Eileen McEnery played the piano and a few of the familiar Christmas carols were sung by all To end the night entertainment Jesse McEnvery was called upon to auction off advent candle was lit Mrs Betty Brown added to the service when she sang and played on the guitar It was announced there would be a special Christmas service next Sunday Christ mas Eve beginning at 7 Milton took on a rosy hue with last week announcement by Consumers Glass Company Limited of Its plans to build a plant The new plant will employ between 175 and 200 people The glass container manufacturing plant is to go nto production in 1380 Construction slated to start next spring Milton was selected as the site for the new plant because Consumers Glass already has a square Toot ware house on site at Milton The factory will be near the warehouse on Communica tions the key to helping child agencies Children are sometimes by social education and other agencies mainly because of poor not served as well as they could be said the judge Anything he board can do to promote cooperation in communication can do no thing but help young people become responsible citizens remarked Judge Fuller Professional Jealousies also play a part in the under servicing of children accord ing to the judge There is a need to know about the context of other agencies problems said Fuller Professional
