Halton Hilis recreation department sponsored a Canoe Clinic at Fairy Lake last Wednesday and to my sur when the van carrying eight 15 foot canoes stopped at the lakes beach area three young ladies emerged After removing the canoes to the lakes edge they stopped for lunch It seems that the girls have been elling around the province giving clinics on canoeing and canoe safety The troupe spent three days at Miltons Kelso Conservation Area before their stop In Acton on their way to a seven day stay in at the North Americas The girls along with another crew of guys are scanning the province The group is sponsored jointly be the Ministry of Culture and Recreation Ministry of Natural Resources Canadian National Sportsmens Fund and Marks and Spencer The group carries all their own equipment to the Curling Club George town Maroons led by the tournaments Most Valuable Player Betty Simony advanced to and won the Shortlll Chalet trophy as the consolation champions defeating Kathy of Acton
