resident says Archie Brown who lives in the Scotch Block area told Halton Hills council Monday night the region turned down grant requests of the Salvation Army and for blind vices but managed to find large sums for the Burlington V Royal Bo tanical Gardens and Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra Brown com plained that Halton Hills taxpayers are giving more to the region for al services than pre viously but not enough grant money is coming back He also observed Hills is giving out fewer grants Brown who had raised this Issue last month at the public meeting in Aclon was told by several councillors that once again he was at the wrong meeting They urged him to take his concerns to region Since groups which used to come to Halton Hills for funding must now go to the region and are being turned down Hills must show some leadership at region and get grants for local groups Brown declared Councillor Pat Pat terson agreed the region wasted grant money on the Royal Botanical Gardens and others while turning down needed grants but felt the town lad done its job He urged Brown take his paints up with the region Brown asked IF groups turned down at the region could come to Hills for financial sup port and was told it was too late for this year Brown said he came to council not representing any group but because he heard about grant re fusals and thought how stupid can they get
