After 34 years Tho Acton F Press Wednesday Nov 5 History teacher Harold Swallow retires Harold Swallow and wife Vivian enjoy port he skit performed during retirement party Vince Offers experience during last week retirement party at Knox Presbyterian Church Other colleagues from over tl years com merited on the main points of Swallow character as rtflected in his profession He always demanded native started on his teaching career by graduating from University College at the University of Toronto an honors degree in History in 1944 His first teaching job was at Trinity College private school in Port Hope For a year he taught grades nine and ten During the first year after World War Swallow pursued an enjoyable year of research on the political views of John Strachnn In some ways it was my best year at university because I was doing research That research was at the Ontario College of Education where he graduated In the top quarter of the class of 1946 After a year of leaching In
