Griffin served community for years A well known area farmer Harold L Grif fin Acton died Monday March 30th in Guelph General Hospital He had been In declining health for several months Mr Griffin was born October I 1894 the only son of Mr and Mrs Smith Griffin and lived all his life on their Township farm His son Smith presently operates the farm Harold Griffin at tendedCedarvaletSS Public School on Ten and later was trustee and secretary treasurer He wa3 an active member of Churchill Church all his Hie serving as church treasurer for years He was also for many years a member of Cemetery Board He took a keen Interest in agricultural activities serving as a field crop judge for many agricultural societies He was a director of Erin Agricultural Society for several years president In 1943 and and later honored with a life membership With his father he was a member of the Canadian Seed Growers Association since 1915 He exhibited seed grain and potatoes regularly at the Royal Winter and was presented with a Canadian Seed Growers Outstanding Service Award in 1977 Mr Griffin also bred Suffolk sheep and Short horn cattle In the Ontario Shorthorn Club made him an Honor Roll member In recognition of many years of active service within the breed For more than years Harold Griffin was on Erin Township Council serving as councillor reeve and reeve While on Wellington County Council he was active on the roads committee and the agricultural committee He married Jessie Held in June she predeceased him In 1977 He is survived by his son Smith Mr Griffin had an excellent memory and a keen Interest In things historical His reminiscences and anecdotes of times past enlivened many a gathering The Griffin family roots ore Welsh and have been traced back to Edward Griffin who emigrated
