officers and suffered injuries that required medical ion All three officers denied Mr Connor claim that he was hit ilh a billy club Constable Van said he grabbed Mr Con nor necktie and held him by cruiser door as a last resort when fons lo secure him with handcuffs failed He admitted he brought out his billy when Mr Connor ap parently made a threat gesture wllh his handcuffed hands The jury stater police had reasonable and pro bable grounds to arrest Mr Connor for causing a disturbance at the local gas station but that the arrest was not handled property Mr Connor received 100 in special damages for financial loss related to the incident in general damages for false imprisonment in general damages for Injuries and in live damages The Incident arose over dispute between Mr Connor and gas station attendants regarding a wrongful billing Despite his statement to police that the matter had been cleared up he said he was arrested without an explanation from the officers Mr Connor was later charged with assaulting a police officer causing a disturbance and causing wilful damage He was convicted last year of damaging the cruiser window frame l38 and was granted a conditional discharge overcharges were dismissed The case was heard be fore County Court Judge Thomas with Milton lawyer Peter acting on be half of Mr Connor and Toronto lawyer Murray Davison acting as de fense
