and getting involved to make Acton a better place lo live is what Decoration Day is ail about Rev John Robertson said In his address during the Sunday afternoon service at Cemetery for the service which was attended by a number of families Rev Robertson paid tribute to the dead who had built Acton by giving of themselves for the community He said people came out for Decoration Day to remember the many many departed citizens who faced up to the situation and used their talents for service to their community He explained God expects everyone to use his or her talents to enrich life for others and the people Acton was remembering Sunday afternoon didn t wash their hands of their responsibilities and let the community down It is everyone responsibility to Ret moving and get things done in Acton their church etc The program started with the singing of God Save The Queen and then Mayor Peter offered words of welcome and thanked Decoration Day organizers and participants He said it was a tremendous day and Decoration Day makes a tremendous contribution to remembering good things which have been done over the years in the community Rev John Cooper gave the Call to Worship and Invocation Scripture Reading as well as the Benediction at the end of the program All joined in singing the hymn Abide With Me while the Acton Citizens Band played during the service and the parade The Acton Legion performed two pieces with John singing a solo Lieutenant Lome of the Salvation Army read a prayer Following the service members of various organizations went around and St Joseph a
