Elementary Teachers Association with the presentation of the Presidents Anniversary Award Thursday evening who retired as chairman of the Halton board in 1983 admitted Friday the recognition surprised him I couldnt believe it 1 hadnt anticipated it at all be explained The fifth recipient of the award he repre sents the first trustee to have his name in cluded on the plaque In previous years the award has gone to three teachers and one person employed by the board According to Robert Film an president of the teachers association recipients must have made outstanding contributions to education and the community Mr Film an is responsible for selecting such people and this year chose a man he has known since Mr s many years as a trustee and chairman of the Board and his cur rent Involvement with the educational committee of the Region Con servation Foundation earned him a place on the presidents plaque The presentation was made at the associations annual dinner held at the Optimist Club Milton Cook book sales brisk The May meeting of the Ladies Fair Board was held at the home of Leslie Johnston with a good attendance and members were happy to welcome a new member Thompson The report
