journey will continue south and vest and will wrap up with a Bicentennial Parade of Horses at the Bennett farm near Ball in ad August The Journey will cover 465 miles To inform the public of ihe projected schedule meetings have been in Renfrew and Hastings Counties and have been planned for East and Georgetown as well as Parry Sound and Emsdale The Georgetown meeting is at Cedar vale on Monday June 11 at 8 m The route and calendar will be outlined during these meetings and local residents will be encouraged to part id pate many events plan Historic scenic and heritage routes will be traced and travel led by the participants of the journey Descendants of the original settler families will be invited to sign a scroll and to record the name of the original settler family their origin date of settlement and land grant site Participants ore expected to come from all age groups end walks or life Some will be on horseback while others will participate on bicycle by foot or by any traditional means The celebrations will take place along trails byways and the communities passed through This is a Bicentennial project of the Ontario Trail Riders Association approved and supported by the Govern ment of Ontario Ministry of Tourism and Recreation the Office of the Bicentennial and the Ontario Equestrian Federation is an organization of horse enthusiasts dedicated to the development and preserve of use fourseason recreational trails In Ontario Region now arts patron Subject to council approval later this month Hal ton Region Is now a patron of the arts Council new art
