Toronto band leader Paul James who shared stages with some pop music brightest lights by MARK HOLMES Paul James is a man who takes his music seriously Fighting against the trends toward com music over the past few years the Toronto music an has hung onto his deals to become one of the hottest 11 sensations In Canada with the potential for International stardom not far away James who attended a recent luncheon at the Acton Legion for stars of the Rock Fest in Prospect Park Aug has just released first album entitled Almost Crazy and if he record is any die at on of things to come the sky the limit for the Paul James Band Themusic clean and crisp with deep roots ageless blues and the power of early rock and roll s a refresh change from the computerized zed rock of today Chuck Berry have to He played for a week Fortunately for James the Bermuda was close to numerous bara 1 the Colonial where he d watch blues greats like Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker OWN LABEL After listen ng to people like that I just had to go back to my own gig and try out some of the same stuff I just heard explained James James early experience with record turned out to be rather bad As a result he unlike many of his counterparts created h own label and produced his own muse the Colon one day James met Hopkins another blues great who needed a backup band James got the gig and in time was Intro to some of
