Georgetown Acton Wednesday Dec B7 PROFILE By Grade Joseph What kind of an do think it would be to move to a new and country To leave your friends school and relations hundreds of miles across an Justine Porter found out that her father had been of a promotion which in volved moving to Canada when she was just nine years old Up until then she had been living with her family in To Justine Canada was a far off place which she had on ly heard of She had no Ideas about actually living in this unfamilar place and leaving her friends arriving in Canada Justine and her family lived in several different motel rooms while waiting for the tion of their home in George town InthemeantlmeJustine and her two sisters Joanne and Jacinta attended Holy Cross School The motel rooms in which the Sorters spent their first four months living in Canada usually only had up to rooms They were a bit loo small for people to live real comfor especially during hot summer months By July her family had begun to tire of the slow pro gress of their new home and began the task of finding a new place to live The Porters found a home just outside of town on Hwy across from Speys I School By September of Justine started St Joseph sin grade 5 She now is 13 and grade 8 Justine enjoys most sports is active in all school teams and has joined the junior choir at St Josephs Church Thinking back Justine recalls having few problems with making new friends and likes living in Ac ton Justine plans to finish University and maybe become a teacher A second profession of choice would be a stewardess because she would like to see the world Though Justine has return ed to England only once in the almost years she has been living in Canada she plans to visit England again in the near future Justine is planning to hold down a steady job as well as having a family She knows that both responsibilities would require a lot of her time but thinks she will be able to manage these tasks At this time of Justines life she Is an excellent student and is taking all the challenges she comes across one day at a time We hope that she succeeds in everything that she plans to do In her life as she is a good friend and considerate to all YOUTH SPEAK by Murray G D HS Should political bias prevail during a time which the needy people of the third world desperately need everybody a help not just people with the same political background Absolutely Under no circumstances should human life have to suffer so much as it has and Is right now in places such as Ethiopia etc What makes this problem even harder for me to accept is that it could have probably been controlled if not solved if the strongest nations of the worlds had put aside their political ferences and set out to solve the problem at hand What was the United States a powerful and leading nation in the world today doing to help their fellow humans survive Not a whole lot Because Ethiopia is a government the United States was obviously very pessimistic about helping a country that has very different political beliefs We as Canadians can be a little more proud of our countrys effort but we still could have done a lot more Canada and the United States have shown themselves to be very generous conn tnes when a tradegy occurs near to home and with the same political beliefs such was the case when the terrible earthquake hit in So why does the problem take on any less priority just because it is an eastern communist area Also this probelm is something that didnt occur overnight It would have been easier to solve in previous years while the pro blem was on a smaller scale It is bad enough when people die for a socalled purpose It is even more saddening when wasteful deaths occur some of these being family murder police officer killings and suicide The tragedy in the eastern countries is just such a wasteful death As much as other nations could have offered more aid there is another side to the coin Instead of spending all the countrys finances on offensive and defensive military hardware the Ethiopian Government should have been more selective in the way in which they decided to spend their money it should have been spent to educate their people about planned parenthood thus projecting into the future with the new generations while also feeding the people that were already on the brink of CANADA REPORT By Sandy G St Francis or Assist A nine letter word for the Ontario Science Centre FAN TACTIC- Thats bow I felt about my tripthere The whole day was filled with activities that were fun in and of course educational There were many displays on a wide range of topics such as Space Life Resources Trans portation and Communications and many many more The presentation on crime solving was excellent The man in charge told us of how the police take finger prints and we saw other things that help solve crime puzzles a full and enjoyable day at the centre If I had to pick my three favourite displays they would have to be The Science Arcade The Transportation section and the presentation we had on Crime Prevention I would like to recommend that all children get their parents to take them to the Ontario Science Centre for the day Children will enjoy it and so will the parents Exclusively for Our Pay TV Subscribers CALL TODAY TO ORDER YOURS Hahon Cable Systems 8531270 RESTAURANT TAVERN The
