IN Hasnt Convinced Writer About Snowmobiles Pitfalls Drive Dear Sir I tee that Mr Snider took It upon himself to answer for all nonsnow machine operators making statements that leaves no doubt In my mind be is dead the machines and the r operator This is Mr every right of bis awn feelings but I dont under stand why In his last article be stated that he wished be had a snowmobile himself Actually I am very pleased that Mr Snider has replied to my letter and added a to more facts that I understand I am truly sorry if your property was abused Una way but do not condemn all snow- After all we do have law enforcement even outside town limits This brings an other question to my mind if you live outside town limits why are you so concerned ab out inside limits when it would be to your advantage to leave well enough alone A recent snowstorm in Stratford brought a fast change to their bylaw snowmobiles were used to trans port children from school and Isolation A few months ago a young boys life was saved in the bush near by a snowmobile with the help of a dog Last week in Montreal snowmobiles were used by po lice doctors etc Requests have been sent out by radio to thousands of snow mobile owners for emergency help this year above all Snow mobiles are here to stay Mr Snider the sooner there are drivers tests the better As for the boozers thats a lot of there is no way a car can or brake as fast as a snowmobile on Ice Besides how many lives are at stake when a drunken driver takes to the wheel of a car com pared to the snowmobiles I agree with you that people who use wire cutters to gain unlawful entry to fields should bo prosecuted I also agree that people who fire rifles at snow mobiles and set traps should be prosecuted I felt that the main section of my letter was aimed at the Georgetown Recreation Com mittee but they dont seem to have the same Interest as oar Mr Snider has PS About your statistics have no doubt about them be ing substantial but thought they were amazing low percen tage wise You stated these accidents should not have hap pened they dont theyre caus ed From the smallest mechani cal failure to out and out care lessness who knows maybe you yourself will step in front of a snowmobile by accident of course Quote The devil made me say that Thank you Jack Handy Applause Not Criticism For Mayors Airport Stand R Georgetown Dear Sir I take exception to last weeks letter by A Teeson who wants the new airport located the Georgetown area so that children graduating from school may find work here It Is inconceivable that Mr should not have heard of a place called Toronto ab out 30 miles east of George town a city with hundreds of factories and other places employment Mayor Smith deserves ap plause not criticism for public ly declaring that Georgetown should not become a shipping and industrial town It is safe to say that he has the overwhelming support of the local if he pursues a policy of keeping Georgetown the small and friendly town which has always been its chief asset Mr Teetont pregraduate protegees will Just have to look elsewhere to try out their in dustrial talents Yours truly Charles HlWebrandt through deep snow which didnt help her any Fortunately we have a good veterinary in this town and she underwent surgery next day by Dr but the suf fering and expense is a darned shame The sad part Is she la not the first
