all boarded a bus at parking lot at oclock which took them the OKeefo Centre and Front Streets in Toronto where Catherine Hepburn starred in Coco Channels life story the fa mous Paris designer Miss Hep burns acting was superb and her port well carried out each time she appeared on stage she was received with trem endous applause She was a pillar of energy and has a wit ty sense of rythm which and Mr and Mrs Ward and some other friends in this vic inity The Kerrs year old son Billy was ploying hockey In Creemore Mrs J living What I dont add though is If you can find the time Because living in a lively town like ours doesnt leave much leeway or energy for browsing around the city We old find ourselves with a free Saturday last week bow- ever so drove into Toronto for no particular reason except to stroll along St and see what the folks in the big city up to WE TOOK ADVANTAGE of the sunny side of the street to do some window- shopping along Bloor The la dles styles didnt exactly me Maybe they have more attractive things Inside thought I So in I went Big mis take Came out feeling depres sed after seeing absolutely no thing I would even dream of trying on racks of hot pant suits flounced ankle length commune dresses knickers And the dresses Intended for the likes of me were all and looked horrible ev en on the hangers Friend husband didnt fare any better The violently shirts and broad ties lor men be absolutely refuses to wear And from the hint of thingstocome in the shoe de partment with the loud two- tones now being promoted hes not going to be buying any new shoes in the foreseeable future either And of course be wouldnt bo caught dead is those zany patterned timed pants so fashionable at the moment LUCKILY SOMETHING happened to take our minds off clothes It was the sound of music Of a kind Tambourines like And chant ing With a rock beat On the opposite side of the street there it was a little parade of a dozen or so young people marching along single- file behind a placard carrying leader He had shaved his head except for a narrow atrip down the centre and wore vol uminous bright yellow pant- robes In the Oriental style Be hind him marched the tambou rineplayer similarly dressed and hairstyled The rest of the aggregation young women as well as men were dressed In normal street garb They were enjoying their chanting and marching crusade and so were the Street shoppers SIMILARLY we found the passing parade in the Col onnade more fascinating than the merchandise Thank goodness its a novelty for us to see so many young people with the rag bag costume look flowing locks and grannyglasses Puz zlement When they look like that how can the boys be at tracted to the girls and vice versa But they obviously are And I mean obviously WHICH BRINGS ME to another episode in our lit tle foray into the We went to see a highlytouted mo tion picture It was supposed be a comedy We were bor ed And disgusted So we left before it was over mutter ing away about why everyone seems to be out of step but us and what has happened to our sense of humour has it deserted us or Just gone out of style WED BAD ENOUGH TO shake us up for one day Almost Heading for home we thought wed stop at one of the new Inns Surely wed enjoy thatl Wo chose one feat uring some entertainment Found the room very pleasant crowded with a rock band and three girl singers supplying the music Well the gals bad good voices and 1 did enjoy listening to them Up to a point Would have been better It we could have made out the words and been able to dance to their beat WHEN WE FULLED Into our driveway it was fairly early In the evening Could hardly wait to change Into something comfortable and settle down to the papers and The old rut felt mighty com fortable MULLING OVER OUR DAY I think maybe oar main trouble Is that we dont go to the often en ough 1 think maybe
