the previous winters I have tra veiled thousands of miles throughout Canada and the ited States on business yet ha ving enough time off to be to mix with tho people native to particular cities I have been with tho Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Vancouver and went on a drug raid talked to various civic people regarding drug pro blem in their cities and have seen just how serious the drug problem throughout North Am erica is It is so serious in some cities the police arc now raid school lockers looking for drugs was raised in Georgetown I and take a great deal of pride to advise anyone during my travels that I was raised in Georgetown Ontario Throughout winter I re turn to Georgetown to visit my parents on business and to help out with the minor hockey whenever possible and was am axed to learn the degree of drug availability in Georgetown Everyone who has the access to do something about it seems to want to put problem as ide with the same attitude that drugs ore not a problem in Georgetown yet Quote YET One person told me that par in Georgetown do not think that there is much drug abuse in town What I fall to see is how can anyone with their eyes and ears open not be aware Perhaps the arc people in town who are aware and do not know how to cope with Ihei school to use the gym Seventeen young people Mr and Mrs Ron Chalten Mr and Mrs Peter Norton Mr and Mrs Itussell Miller and Mr and Mrs David attended j The group 1 as a members hip and a waiting list and since forming In September novo been quite active In a week of there will bo and clean up at tho now hull grounds At an evening euchre in St hall April 1 winners men Mrs low I Norton lad ion Mrs C Mrs Jack Hooper tow Judy Hancock eight tables Maundy evening In St Albans parish hall was tho Jesus Christ rock opera Richard Rugglo made a number of comment during tho which was well attended Mn Tom Haines problem Perhaps the people who feel there is no problem are certain that there will not be a problem so why even try a preventive measure Perhaps each parent is so sure that their chlldrcn will never use drugs in any form so why worry If the town of Georgetown the police department cannot find the funds to do something to both parents and about the severity of the drug problem all it would take wo ild be for The Herald to publish the list of what can happen to you If you would even want to experiment with any form of drugs One town official told me that I was tho first person who has said anything to him about any typo of a drug In Georgetown It makes wonder if the town Is not made up entirely of teenagers What better lime than now the summer vacation to organize some type of a pro gram to educate the children and apparently parents as to the serious consequences of I drug use Perhaps Mr Editor through the pages of The Herald If Just person could be aided then I feel it would be a column or two well used I would bo interested to hear from anyone with a similar feeling towards this serious problem in Georgetown Thank you for the opportunity to convey my thoughts to you and the people of Georgetown Bryan Lewis National Hockey League Referee P While refereeing a hoe-
