GEORGETOWN HERALD T DEC Ballln Keeping Christ in Christmas UCW Theme Quits a large number of members and home helpers attended the December meeting of the As usual for the Christmas meeting it was held in the church basement The committee In charge decorated i and set tables and arranged all to eat around 7 JO A delicious supper of ham salads scalloped potatoes rolls pickles etc with mince and pumpkin pie for dessert was set before the ladles and one gen tleman Rev Kelvin Johnston who was a special guest for the evening When all bad partaken at the meal tables were cleared and chairs set around for the meeting Mrs Sales presided and opened with a Christmas thought Roll call was for each to tell of a humorous happening that occurred at a Christmas concert of their childhood Each in turn recalled an event which brought forth much laughter After the minutes of the previous meeting the treasurers was given which showed a substantial sum on hand after allocation had been met Membership fees for 1972 were handed in The scripture and topic were combined and given by Mrs Grace and Mrs Wills ShortUl Mrs McEnery opened her part of the devotions by reading the scriptures relating to the birth of Jesus All then Joined in singing two Christmas carols The theme of the topic was Keeping Christ in Christmas Mrs decorated a minister Christmas tree Christian symbols at the same time Mrs McEnery told what each one represented They closed their port of the meeting by asking all to sing another carol Mrs McEnery then closed with prayer Mrs Johnston ana Mrs Jam- were program conveners and had a couple of games for everyone to participate To end an enjoyable evening an exchange of gifts took place There was a hamper of home baked Christmas goodies given to Rev Johnston and his wife from the U C members Each in turn thanked all for the kind ness shown and wished everyone the compliments of the set Sincere sympathy of the community la extended to Mrs Clifford Rdd in the loss of her husband whose death occurred last week at Florida There was a party at the Ball- inafad- Community Centre on Friday evening of last week to honour Mr and Mrs Gordon Price The large crowd of relatives and friends were there to greet I the couple on the occasion of their wedding anniversary They received some beautiful gifts and a delicious buffet lunch was served Church
