CLERGY COMMENT For The Time Of Your Life Perhaps It Is because our church Immanuel Lutheran la approaching its 10th anniversary thai I find myself thinking in terms of history There are really two anniversaries in which we are involved The first marks the beginning of our work and first services held In the Howard school In September 1953 and the second the actual of our congregation in January 1M4 These are not long histories as time goes out still they are significant for our people and we plan to observe them thankful for the blessings of God during this time This leads me also to reflect that of greater Importance than a date in time for a church in a collective sense is the individual marking of time and events In a person life The sum total of the life history of all the people together In a congregation or in a country as in Canada centennial make the anniversary of importance and give It worth What of the history of your life Do you count it worthwhile and important Or Surely we all have experiences we would like to have omitted from our life history If It were possible But would you not want to say no matter what your years that there are some good and special things there which you will always want to remember IMPORTANT FOR 113 Furthermore God regards history and time important for us At a point In time He made a promise to man or a special person who would come to deliver and save from sin Centuries after having given it as the bible records It God fulfilled that promise at Bethlehem with the birth of Jesus Christ But when the fulness of the time was come God sent forth his Son made of a woman made under the law to redeem them that were under the law that we might receive the adoption of sons Gatatians4 Now I find that my life and years are marked not just by cer tain human happenings as birth school vocation travel marriage and family but rather that in the structure of these human experiences God has acted significantly Importantly wonderfully He has given me faith special in the sense that It comes only from Him and simple In the sense that even a child can believe Him God has done this for me and for countless others in the course of our human lives HISTORY GIVES IDENTITY The history of a Christian life Includes this fact that he or she knows and believes that Jesus Christ into the world fered and died for their sins rose from the dead and lives and reigns In victory and glory for them The Christian believes that his or her sins are forgiven and covered over by the sacrifice and the righteousness of Jesus Christ simply but only through believing in Him I value this history past present and future in my life A knowledge of Its history gives a country an Identity and a sense of direction and purpose for the future The knowledge of our life history the joys and sorrows the good and the bad ex Joined together with faith in Gods promises can give a purposeful direction to life The promise God holds forth in Jesus Christ opens up a life of Joy and victory for the time of this life and Tor an eternal life Only one life Twill soon be past Only what done for Christ Will last GEORGETOWN SHOE REPAIR 130D
